Midjourney can help a designer explore early visual directions for a logo. A set of generated images gives you something to discuss: shapes, colour, atmosphere and the associations a design should carry.

This article was first published in January 2023 and updated in September 2026. The focus remains early concepts; a generated image still needs design work before it becomes a usable identity.

Start with the brief

Describe the business, its audience and where the logo will appear. Decide what the identity should communicate before generating variations. A restaurant sign, a product label and a small website icon place different demands on a design.

Midjourney's image prompt guidance explains how images can influence a result alongside text. Use references you have permission to upload, and treat the output as material to assess against the brief.

Use concepts to make a decision

Choose a few distinct directions and explain what each offers. The useful conversation is about which direction fits the business, where it will work and what needs changing.

Early logo concept generated with Midjourney

Keep generated concepts labelled as concepts. A polished-looking image can obscure practical problems with lettering, proportion or small sizes.

Finish the identity as a design task

The designer still needs to refine the mark, choose and check typography, prepare editable artwork and test the result in its intended uses. Check a single-colour version, small screens and print reproduction alongside the larger presentation image.

Review similarity to existing identities and arrange any necessary rights checks before launch. Generating an image does not establish that it is suitable for exclusive use as a business identity.

Our design work alongside websites and products covers the wider context in which an identity needs to work.

Check visibility before uploading client material

A private brief should not become a public prompt by accident. Midjourney's Stealth mode guidance says that work generated in public Discord channels remains visible there even with Stealth enabled.

Check the plan, settings and place where you generate before uploading material. Agree what can be shared with the client, and use non-confidential examples when that permission is absent.

Judge the result against the brief

The test is whether the process helps you reach an appropriate identity. Count selection and revision time as well as generation time. Keep a direction because it works for the business, not because it was quick to produce.
